At Medway Academy of Performing Arts we offer our students expert training in musical theatre and performing arts in age appropriate groups ranging from 3 to 19 years of age.

Students singing as part of their classes at Medway Academy of Performing Arts. Singing, Dancing and Acting classes run every Saturday with MAPA at The Howard School, Rainham. A Free Trial is available to all prospective new students.

Singing

Our singing classes offer our students specialist vocal tuition using a range of musical styles and techniques. We teach our students the importance of performance skills always focusing on the importance of process over product. They explore the world of singing through a multitude of disciplines including the below:

  • Vocal warm ups (Scales and singing exercises)

  • Harmonies

  • Projection and diction

  • Enhancing vocal range, rhythm & dynamics

  • Performance skills

Dancing

Our Dance classes help our students develop rhythm, coordination and balance. They learn to express themselves through movement focusing on timing and placement and positioning. They explore the world of dance through a multitude of disciplines including:

  • Warm up and cool downs

  • Centre/corner work to develop balance and coordination

  • Choreography

  • Proper placement of arms and feet

  • Rhythm and timing of movements

  • Spatial awareness

  • An array of dancing styles, genres and choreographers

Acting

Our Drama classes help our students express themselves dramatically and understand how to develop characters through imagination, role play and improvisation. They explore the world of acting through a multitude of disciplines including:​

  • Characterisation through Voice (Projection, Articulation, Accent, Pitch, Pace and Tone)

  • Characterisation through Physicality (Body language, Facial expressions, Posture, Gesture, Pace)

  • Script work

  • Improvisation

  • Role play and imagination

  • Other drama based fun activities
